Victron Energy MPPT type solar charge controllers are a fundamental element to an RV solar system. A solar charge controller regulates incoming PV voltage, prevents back flow of current (from battery to PV panel) and runs a three stage battery charging algorithm configured to suit the batteries installed for speedy and efficient charging with battery life maximised. Controllers rated for various output current are available for 12, 24, and 48 volt systems.
A DC DC charger also known as a battery to battery charger is necessary for any RV where transfer of current between battery banks is required (eg. charging auxiliary battery from starter battery).
